Global Trade Tensions Growing, But Protectionism Curbed So Far
Posted May 24, 2010High-level U.S.-China trade talks begin in Beijing on Monday as worries about Europe’s debt crisis remind global leaders not to erect barriers that could disrupt the fledgling global recovery.
American officials will take issue with China’s “indigenous innovation policies” that some U.S. companies claim hinder market access. China will use the Strategic and Economic Dialogue to urge the U.S. to ease export rules on high-tech products.
