Marta Moszczenska: Cross-border trade depends on reliable crossing
Posted May 24, 2010The numbers are in: More than 8 million U. S. jobs depend on trade with Canada, 517,028 of them in New York alone. If the U. S.-Canada border were closed today, 8 million Americans jobs would be negatively impacted.
The recession hurt millions of people in both Canada and the United States. Our mutual prosperity is greatly enhanced by strengthening our integrated economies and ensuring that our shared border operates efficiently and safely.
